Strengthen your adductors… it’ll transform your life!

Ok that might be a bit extreme but seriously, the adductors tend to be really weak for lots of us. This can show up in your yoga practice as the back leg turning out in poses such as Warrior 3 (Digasana) or Crescent Lunge. If they’re very weak, this feeling can also show up as groin pain. It’ll feel like they need a good stretch but this won’t actually help.

In yoga, there aren’t many specific poses that aim to strengthen the adductors so I incorporate more Pilates inspired exercises in this practice to isolate and fire these inner thigh muscles up. I’ll also be including more subtle cues that aim to help wake these muscles up in more traditional poses too.
