Gluteus medius is the main hip stabilizing muscle; drawing the hip into the socket and keeping the pelvis level. It’s a notoriously tight and weak muscle and can often contribute to lower back pain and continuous ‘collapsing’ or ‘sagging’ into the hip joint can lead to hip issues too.
Join me for this class we will start the class by practicing more pilates-inspired exercises that will fire up this muscle then move into more weight-baring standing and balancing yoga poses that aim to build a functional balance of strength and mobility. We will then close the class by practicing a self myofascial release technique for releasing excessive tension in the muscle and surrounding connective tissue.
